چکیده

Introduction: Retroperitoneoscopic laparoendoscopic single-site surgery for congenital midureteral stricture was performed in a nulliparous girl with contralateral multicystic dysplastic kidney. Case Description: The patient presented with a 4-year history of intermittent right flank pain and 3 episodes of right acute pyelonephritis. A right-sided retrograde ureteropyelogram showed a short and narrow stricture at the level of L5 with proximal hydroureteronephrosis. Ureterolysis and ureteroplasty were successfully performed via the retroperitoneal route. The total operation time was 200 minutes, and the estimated blood loss was 10 mL. The patient was discharged on postoperative day 5 with no complications. At the 12-month follow-up, the patient reported complete relief from pain and intravenous pyelography showed markedly decreased hydroureteronephrosis. Discussion: Retroperitoneoscopic laparoendoscopic single-site surgery is an effective treatment option for congenital midureteral stricture with an acceptable esthetic outcome and minimal morbidity.

Congenital midureteral obstruction caused by a ureteral stricture, valve, or an adynamic segment, is an exceedingly rare entity. When encountered, it is generally misdiagnosed as megaureter or ureteropelvic junction obstruction. Two children with midureteral obstructions were seen over the last two years. One of these had an anatomical defecta midureteral stricture; the other had a physiologica...

Laparoendoscopic single-site (LESS) repair of lumbar hernia: initial case report

Less than 300 repairs of lumbar hernias have been reported (1). The condition may derive from a congenital or acquired defect in the posterior-lateral abdominal wall (2). Primary lumbar hernia is a congenital defect, which typically arises in two areas of weakness: the superior (Grynfelt’s) triangle and the inferior (Petit’s) triangle. Acquired lumbar hernias are usually caused by previous lumb...

Safety and Efficacy of Laparoendoscopic Single-Site Surgery for Abdominal Wall Hernias

BACKGROUND Laparoendoscopic single-site surgery has rapidly progressed from the animal laboratory to clinical use since mass production of multichannel ports began in 2007. Indeed, it has now been shown to be feasible and safe for many commonly performed operations. METHODS This study cohort comprised 22 unselected patients with abdominal wall hernias of varying types: multiply recurrent ingu...
